  • Postgraduate Students' Senate Convenor

Candidate Statement:

Since my first committee position at 17, I've been a lifelong advocate: fundraising for bushfire survivors, advising health services, running election campaigns. I’m known as a strong collaborator, even by my opponents.

As a vocal, active and critically-minded student, I’ve heard many students raise concerns.

My campaign focusses on three areas:

Varying teaching timetables and workloads impacts students, through class times, marking delays, lecturer stress, and strikes. Staff conditions impact students. I will support staff to make UoN a place of collaboration, not conflict.

Expanding work-integrated learning (WIL) presents opportunities and risks. It must not impact face-to-face teaching. Students deserve a code of practice, guaranteeing effective learning, not free work.

Universities must balance research and teaching fairly.  “Non-funded research” is funded mainly from teaching income. Students deserve to know what these projects are, and what they cost.

Our education belongs to us.

Newcastle, Central Coast, Sydney, regional and international, we all deserve a university we can be proud of.
