Why this role?
Education is at the heart of why most people come to university so I want to make sure that it's accessible to every student but an enjoyable experience.
My Experience
I established the Accessibility and Equity collective from the ground up as it’s convenor which now has over 68 members and 3 different hang outs. I have been a part of many different levels of policy implementation from sitting on the Institutional Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee to the Library Community of Practice for Equity and Inclusion, disability action plan committee, UNSA Welfare committee, NSSS response team and event working groups.
What do you hope to achieve for UON Students?
I want to Advocate for further training for staff members including how to response to students with poor mental health or neurodiversity and Advocate for universal design principles be implemented in all courses - To accommodate students who are dyslexic, a braille user or chronic ill.
